This is Colin, my favorite person. I love that he is in my life for many reasons. I love that I just happen to be best friends with a guy who knows cameras… and has a bunch of them.
This week I’m in Portland, but last week I was in…Maui. It was incredible. It was warm. I could actually swim in the ocean without getting hypothermia. Colin was there. There was so much beauty. It only rained twice or so. The second night Colin and I were there we shot a commercial for the…
checkout the feature @instagram did on my latest film :) and the couple that i got to meet a few months ago through instagram.
National Proposal Day: Carter Moore and Brooke Howe
Carter Moore (@iamcartermoore) and Brooke Howe (@brookehowe) had been dating for a few years when Carter decided he wanted to propose by asking Brooke to “start an adventure for a lifetime.” He decided to surprise her with a trip to Portland, but there was one problem—neither of them had ever been to Portland before. Carter turned to Instagram friends in Oregon for ideas. With their help, Carter was able to plan the entire trip and even find the spot where he would ask Brooke to marry him.
Even though they’d never met the couple in person, two of Carter’s Instagram friends in Portland, Branden Harvey and his friend Colin Cabalka, decided to take Carter and Brooke’s visit to the next level and surprise them with an engagement party. When Carter and Brooke arrived back from Ecola State Park, they were greeted with music, balloons and a whole lot of love.
The video above is about the touching story of their engagement, told for the first time at that party. A warm congratulations to Carter and Brooke on National Proposal Day!
i love carter and brooke, they are such an example of what it is like to love and crave adventure as a couple. not just in the awesome indiana jones way, but in so many other ways too.
carter took a big risk in taking his future fiancé to oregon for a surprise trip. he barely knew anyone, except a few people off of instagram like myself and @brandenharvey. yet he jumped at the opportunity to stay in a random strangers house (mine) for the week, rent a car and explore the unknown with his fiancé after getting engaged the first day of the trip.
carter took brooke to the coast to see the beauty that they had both dreamed of experiencing together, and while on the adventure, carter made the point of sharing with her his heart to spend the rest of his life adventuring with her. knowing that he was ready to take the step in really starting a life with her, he asked her to be his wife, and she said yes.
everyone wants to be proposed to on cliffs over looking the pacific ocean on the oregon coast while the sun is setting on a cool breezy winter day. brooke is a lucky gal for sure! and carter picked a keeper!
i only had a short time with them, but i was left feeling inspired to be love to others, to take risks, to jump at new opportunities.
when i think of greg, i recall a scene in a movie where a guy is in stocks being publicly humiliated and is going to miss the competitions he’s been training for the whole movie, and his friends are standing guard over him, protecting him from all the angry townspeople. the king comes by and releases him, saying he knows the man’s character by the way his friends love him.
that’s greg.
this film is the next in the story portrait film series.
greg is a human i got to know over the last few months, who has a rapidly changing story that inspired and spoke to me. i wanted to capture just a piece of the life that God has called him to live, and share it through the medium of film.
i invite you to sit down, quiet the distractions, keep your palms open, and enjoy the story.
